Typing Faster Part 1: Why
Increasing your typing speed 20% will increase output by 40%.
Typing is a reality. We have to type emails, notes, updates, messages, it's a lot of typing. There is no avoiding it. Did you know you can learn to type 20% faster with just a few minutes each day?
Yes. I'm serious. Let me explain.
The writing equivalent to walking into a room and forgetting why you even went in
Ever start typing a sentence, but you realize that you are thinking about the next sentence, and then you realize you've forgotten about the point of the current sentence? Then your brain is wandering and in the time for 1 paragraph you have half a jumbled mess.
It's cause you're typing so much slower than your brain thinks that it has to wander. It's wandered away. What's the point of all your focus if you can't execute?
You don't need to type 100 WPM, that is really good.
What you need is to be able to type somewhere around 70-90% of your brain talking speed. Just fast enough that your brain doesn't wander, but there is enough brain juice to know what the next sentence will be about.
I am a slow typer.
In the next few posts I am going to talk about how I went from a measly sad 40 WPM, to 54 WPM, which is not fast but good progress (35%). However my writing output has possibly doubled.
In the next few posts I will explain how I increased my typing speed 35% in a month with only 5 minutes a day of effort for free!
